Why I joined Basic Needs: I joined Basic Needs because through my time volunteering at the Food Pantry, I've discovered an amazing community through all the staff, volunteers, and community members. With a strong interest in food justice initiatives and local food systems, it's great to work in a space with others hoping to foster similar change in resource accessibility on campus. Basic Needs has continuously taught me how to better understand and serve the community around me.

Why I joined Basic Needs: I joined Basic Needs to make a definite impact in my community. Growing up in situational poverty on food stamps and going to food pantries, taught me about mutuality and built in me a desire to give back. The Food Pantry at Iowa is a fantastic place where real, loving work is done, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work here with the other incredible staff, volunteers and donors.
